Synergy of blended precursors can lead to substantial enhancement of functional properties of alkali activated materials (AAMs), which can be attributed to the changes in microstructure and composition. Improvements in environmental parameters of AAMs can be achieved by using common precursors together with waste materials. However, the requirements on functional and environmental parameters can often be contradictory. In this project, synergetic effects in alkaline activation of blended precursors will be investigated, taking into consideration physical, chemical and environmental aspects at the same time. Contrary to most previous studies published by other researchers, the functional and environmental parameters of AAMs will be optimized in a single procedure already at the design of AAM mixes. In addition, an in-depth analysis of chemical and physical factors explaining the reasons why a particular AAM mix was found optimal will be performed and the achieved synergetic effects will be assessed from the physical, chemical and environmental points of view.
