The main goal of the project consists in the design of a novel complex solution for the thermal energy storage, including the use of waste materials to increase the efficiency of renewable energy sources, which are faced with the requirement for energy storage during production peaks and deferred consumption. For the needs of the project, two variant solutions are being considered with operating temperature V1 < 400 °C and V2 < 800 °C. The focus of the design will be on efficient integrated solutions that combine the concepts of thermal energy storage (STE) with renewable energy (RES) technologies of operation temperature. The ambition of the project is to develop and verify STE options based on the upcycling of waste generated in foundry operations.
