Low-energy binders based on alkali-activated waste brick powder

Info

Provider: GAČR
Solution time: 2016 - 2018
Project No:

The proposed project is devoted to the investigation of low-energy binders based on alkali-activated waste brick powder, which is a by-product in the manufacture of calibrated brick elements. The main motivation of the project is to provide an extension of knowledge in the field of high-quality and environmental-friendly building materials. The research is focused on alkali-activated aluminosilicates with high-level utility value, which in comparison to currently used cementitious binders are characterized by a higher corrosion and temperature resistance. New binders have less impact on the environment emissions of greenhouse gases and they reduce the total energy consumption during production. The main aim of the project is the development of a new binder from an alkali-activated powdered brick body, which is available as a by-product of brick production and comprehensive analysis of its physical and chemical characteristics, in particular, the strength, transport of heat and moisture and corrosion resistance.
