Project No: 19-02067S

Wood is one the basic building materials used for construction purposes. One of the most important disadvantages of wood is its susceptibility to biological agents. Biocidal chemical products used against wood-destroying fungi and beetles are mostly of artificial and may even be harmful to people. Other pest removal methods are not always 100% effective. Therefore, the study of the applications of natural biocidal substances from the methylxanthine group on selected woods used for construction purposes will be the aim of this project. The effects of an ambient environment, in particular humidity, temperature and UV radiation on the efficiency of treatment against wood-destroying pests will also be studied.
