Utilization of recycled tires for the production of acoustic insulating elements

Info

Provider: MPO ČR
Solution time: 2019 - 2022
Project No: FV40054

The use of waste products is an important step towards sustainability and reducing the environmental burden associated with human activity. Tires used by automobiles represent a considerable burden after the end of their use in the transport industry and the possibilities for their further use are still relatively limited. Acoustic walls used in the Czech Republic may consist of different materials or combinations thereof. Most often they are made of reinforced concrete, wood, wood-cement, ceramic materials, recycled plastics, aluminum and galvanized sheet metal or other materials. Our anti-noise walls will include rubber particles from used summer or winter tires, coated with binder material. Tires are usually made of natural or artificial rubbers containing various inorganic and organic substances, along with steel reinforcement and various additives. The main objective of the project is to use recycled tires for the development of acoustic elements, which can be used as acoustic insulation in building structures.
