The project is devoted to the investigation of the effect of selected admixtures and additives on the properties of both the matrix and porous space of magnesia cements-based composites and potential of their use, respecting specific demands of construction practice. The principal feature of investigations to be performed is their complexity. Proposed experimental procedures comprise physical, chemical and mineralogical characterization of raw materials, multilevel design and development of composites, and detailed testing of their microstructure, morphology, chemical and phase composition, physical parameters, mechanical properties, moisture, heat and salt transport and storage parameters. Composites durability, corrosion and high-temperature resistance will be also investigated. This complex approach will enable to attain a higher level of understanding the effect of the incorporation of selected admixtures and additives on properties and performance of magnesia cements-based composites and to develop materials offering interesting alternative to Portland cement-based composites.
